Love your Post Office - Protect Postal Neutrality

Today there are protests all over the country against the threats being made to the Postal Service by the Trump Administration. You should join them or at least celebrate the Postal Service. It is one of the Federally provided services that helps keep us “we the people” and encourages an equality of life in America. We need Postal Service Neutrality as a social service to form a more perfect union . Remember the constitution. Allowing everyone access to the ability to the Post Office Brick and Mortar and the certainty of a delivered package at a rate that is the same for everyone connects everyone. If we do not provide this service at an affordable equal price to all our citizens, then create second- and third-class citizens based on wealth. Providing these services to rural and remote or inner city and run down is expensive but it is price that needs to be paid by society if we want any semblance of equality. It cannot be provided only by market forces because market forces will cut unprofitable services or will discriminate on price. This is what the battle for Net Neutrality is about at its core . We need a campaign for Postal Service Neutrality too We have already made it difficult for the Post Office by privatizing the easy profits and handing them to Fed-Ex and UPS. That is why the winner of the Golf Tournament gets $10million dollars. It is paid for by privatized easy postal services. Brown and Fed-ex don’t take on the hard stuff. I am not against Fed-Ex and Brown they have done a great job and forced the Post Office to up its game which is what capitalist competition is supposed to do. The Post Office is more than a for profit organization and we need to protect it – not molly coddle it but protect it. It is part of the fabric of democracy .
